Vitamin C is the skincare ingredient that deserves to be talked about.

Vitamin C doesn’t just protect your skin against pollution, the environment and sun damage - it also helps to reduce inflammation, pigmentation, and promotes healthy collagenproduction. Vitamin C also ensures you skin looks younger for longer – what’s not to love?

Every reason you need to start using Vitamin C in your skincare regime

Vitamin C isn’t just for fending off colds. Like many of us we start our mornings with glass of orange juice to help give our bodies a boost of Vitamin C to help our immune system, but what about giving our skin boost of Vitamin C too? Along with retinol, Vitamin C is one of the few proven anti-aging skincare ingredients. Vitamin C helps to boost the skin’s natural collagen production, helping to reduce signs of aging and improve skin texture. Collagen is a vital building block of the skin, which helps to repair and renew damaged skin cells.

Vitamin C also improves visible signs of sun damage by fading dark spots and scarring. This hero skincare ingredient helps defend skin against oxidative damage caused by pollution and stress.

Are there different types of Vitamin C?

The short answer is yes, but not all Vitamin Csare made equal. Certain types of Vitamin C breakdown and are less effective when exposed to oxygen. Ascorbic Acid is the A-plus of Vitamin Cs backed by scientific research and proven results. Rich in antioxidants, Vitamin C helps fend off damage caused by free radicals such as premature aging, fine lines, wrinkles and dullness.

When to use Vitamin C

No matter what skin type you have, you should use Vitamin C in your skincare routine. Depending on your skin you should incorporate Vitamin C into your morning skincare regime every day or every other day. Using Vitamin C in your morning routine will help protect your skin against antioxidants such as light and pollution. We recommend using our Skin Republic Vitamin C masks twice a week for brighter, tighter, and, overall better-looking skin.

Do I need to apply sunscreen after using Vitamin C?

100% YES! You should already be using sunscreen and SPF as part of your everyday skincare routine (if you don’t already, start now!) So it should be no biggie that you need to apply sunscreen, and at least SPF15  directly after using the SKIN REPUBLIC Vitamin C Brightening masks and for two weeks thereafter.
